"So many memories from Bonnaroo 2011, but the experience that stood out the most was me and my pal’s anticipation of Gogol Bordello. The band was playing at around 1:00 am, The heat during the day was sweltering so we had hiked (over an hour) back to our campsite for a nap at around 11:30pm, we had both slept through our alarms and woke up at 12:50am in a panic. Me and my fest mate shot out of our sleeping bags, pounded two Hamm’s apiece, and hopped on the Bonnaroo golfcart taxi. We made it in time to experience the wildest gypsy punk rock dance party ever, the community of people at Bonnaroo is something I’ll never forget."

How to be a better neighbor/apartment living

Whether your building has an association or not…odds are you don't exactly know your new neighbors yet, am I right? Here are some suggestions on how to build your own little community in no time at all. Back in the day they used to have an actual welcome wagon….and certainly if you're crafty and enterprising enough you can go around to local businesses and get them to donate coupons or small gifts to the newly moved in, and then go around to each new neighbor and present them with a lovely welcome basket…but this is more about what to do after that. local restaurant night: pick a local restaurant in your neighborhood that you can all meet up at for drinks or dinner…you're getting to know your new area, supporting local business, as well as getting to know your neighbors. Once you've got to know your neighbors a little better….hopefully someone will like you enough to make you something. Or borrow something. Remember the golden neighborly rule: Always return a dish FULL…not empty. Whether you've borrowed a large dish or pan to hold something…or you received the gift of food FROM your neighbor? The friendly thing to do is return it filled with something they will enjoy. if you can't cook or bake, nothing says "howdy neighbor" like a big bag of M&M's :) Perhaps you've got so many fun people in your building, you'd like to step up the socializing…why not start a Facebook page? That way you can check in with one another…pass along important information….organize the next potluck…oh hey, that's another groovy idea! Potluck! everyone brings a dish. It would be nice to be invited to one without the added agenda of someone selling something (tupperware/jewelry/candles, etc) but either way…it's nice to know who the good cooks are in the building, how they furnished their place as opposed to yours, and who's door you will NOT be knocking on for a cup of sugar. Once you've established a rapport with your fellow building dwellers, sky's the limit! Cookie swaps! My…

Live at the MN Zoo July 7th : Los Lobos / Los Lonely Boys

Los Lobos / Los Lonely Boys Sunday, July 7 @ Weesner Family Amphitheater, Apple Valley, MN Doors 7:00 | Music 7:30 | 18+ Ticket Price: $56 Reserved Seating / $68.50 VIP Box On-Sale: Saturday, April 27 @ 10:00 AM Since Los Lobos released their debut album Just Another Band from East L.A. in 1978, they’ve repeatedly disproved that title, consistently evolving artistically while never losing sight of their humble roots. Grammy- winning Los Lobos is an eclectic band in the best sense of the word, drawing equally from rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music. A rare example of longevity in a volatile music world that stresses style over substance, Los Lobos’ lineup has remained the same since 1984, when saxophonist/keyboardist Steve Berlin joined original members Louie Pérez, David Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas and Conrad Lozano, each of whom had been there since the beginning in 1973. Hailing from San Antonio, Los Lonely Boys are a sibling trio whose music draws equally from rock, blues, Tex-Mex, conjunto, and tejano. Their self-titled debut album, recorded in 2003 at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio, produced a multi-chart gold single Heaven, sold millions of albums, won a Grammy and racked up reams of critical acclaim. They even went on to open for The Rolling Stones. After proving themselves as a musical success story in the last decade, Los Lonely Boys are now carving out their legend with their fourth studio album, Rockpango(a made-up Spanish word that the band translates to English as “rock party”. And that’s what Los Lonely Boys provide in concert – a full scale Tex-Mex American roots rock party.TICKET INFORMATION Ticket Prices: $56.00 (Reserved) & $68.50 (VIP Box Seat)  Plus applicable fees, includes $2.00 venue facility fee Tickets available at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis, allTicketmaster locations, by calling 800.745.3000 and online at Ticketmaster.com www.loslobos.org  www.loslonelyboys.com
