Spiderman to the rescue!
There are several lessons to be learned from a potentially disastrous event that took place at Plymouth Ponds Apartments on October 4th, 2015. First, never leave candles or any burning objects unattended and never empty ashtrays into the wastebasket, or use a wastebasket for an ashtray. Second, super heroes exist, for evidence read the heroic story of our own friendly neighborhood Spiderman Urias Jah in the Star Tribune article Spiderman to the Rescue as Plymouth Teen Climbs Building to extinguish Fire (https://www.startribune.com/spiderman-to-the-rescue-as-plymouth-teen-climbs-building-to-extinguish-fire/371809921/) . Plymouth Assistant Fire Chief Matt Nordby recommended Jah for the Citizens Award after he learned of Jah’s feat to assist with extinguishing a deck fire that could have spread quickly. “I don’t know how he did it and did it with an extinguisher,” Nordby said. After all precautions were taken to ensure the fire was out, Assistant Fire Chief Nordby and each of his crew members shook Jah’s hand and thanked him. Such heroics deserved recognition, said Nordby. “So many lives are affected and changed by a simple apartment fire, between the smoke damage and the water damage and people being displaced,” Nordby said. “He saved us a lot of work. But mostly, he made an impact on the residents there so they were able to stay in their apartment that night.” More than 200 people live in the Plymouth Ponds apartments. Plymouth Public Safety Director Mike Goldstein presented 17-year-old Urias Jah of Plymouth Ponds Apartments a Citizens Award on March 3. The City of Plymouth annually recognizes several residents and police officers for heroic and helpful acts within the city, some resulting in the saving of a life. Thank you Urias Jah.
Turn & Learn 2015
On December 8th and 9th, Thies & Talle Management gathered for our Annual Turn and Learn Conference and Holiday Party. Irene's 100th Birthday Party!
Happy 100th Birthday to Irene Gillette! Canterbury Apartments (properties/canterbury-sioux-falls.html) was open to all residents and Irene’s family for a birthday celebration. The birthday cake was made by Thies & Talle’s own Helen Ganske the Regional Property Manager for the Sioux Falls locations. The cake features pictures of Irene when she was 18 months old and a picture of her from this summer. Irene received Birthday cards from the President and all of the Senators and Congressmen for the State of South Dakota along with the Mayor of Sioux Falls. Canterbury Apartments hosted approximately 50 residents and family for the big day. Irene was very grateful to Thies & Talle Management for throwing this party for her. Thies & Talle is more grateful to Irene, who has called Canterbury Apartments home since 7/1/1978 (37 years). Thank you Irene and Happy Birthday!

National Night Out with Thies & Talle
This year we kept the tradition going strong of celebrating National Night Out at Thies & Talle. At Plymouth Ponds (properties/plymouthponds-plymouth.html) we had a bouncy house, petting zoo and pony rides. Cutters Grove (properties/cutters-grove-anoka.html) had a DJ spinning songs and a Clown making balloon animals. We also had some excellent community events at Riva Ridge (properties/riva-ridge-shakopee.html) and Forest Place (properties/forest-place-st-paul.html) including a cook out and block party. National Night Out (https://natw.org/about) enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
