No artist to emerge in the second half of the ’60s has gone on to have a more productive and vital career than critically acclaimed, prolific songwriter Richard Thompson. The England- born artist has amassed an astounding body of work comprising of more than 40 albums; all containing artfully shaped material that seamlessly and expressively integrates traditional and contemporary modes. Thompson’s the recipient of BBC’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as on the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time. A founding member of the seminal British folk-rock group Fairport Convention, he was awarded the Mojo Les Paul Award for Guitar Legendand in 2012 received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting from the Americana Music Association. Robert Plant, REM, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, and many others have recorded his songs. Richard Thompson’s latest album, Electric, produced by Buddy Miller, is a guitar-driven set of songs that is being hailed as one of his best albums ever.
